Work Sample Questions
Instructions: Please use your responses to these questions to give us a better idea of who you are as a Marketer and a writer. There is no limit on response length.
Question 1: BPI formalized its Marketing function in 2020 and is still building out many of its core elements. The right candidate will join the Marketing Director to create a department of two, and will have a mix of primary and shared responsibilities over a broad mix of Marketing and Communications activities. BPI does not have internal graphic design or programming resources, and relies on its small Marketing team to create content on its own with help from external contractors. Tell us why you are a good fit for a “start-up” Marketing role like this one, and include three examples of how you have either worked successfully in a resource constrained environment, or how you would approach that work at BPI.
Question 2: Social Media management is an important part of this role. The right candidate will oversee all aspects of BPI’s social presence, including content creation and the day to day oversight of an agency partner. Using what you see from BPI on Linked In, Facebook, and Instagram, tell us how and why you will succeed with the social media responsibilities that come with this role. As part of your answer, please include three sample social posts written from BPI’s perspective and specify which social channels they should be posted to.
Question 3: While it is not a prerequisite for the role, some prior knowledge of single-use packaging and its relationship to waste diversion – recycling and composting – will help the right candidate contribute quickly to BPI’s Marketing objectives. Please tell us about any knowledge or experience you have in these areas, whether personal or professional. Also, regardless of your personal or professional experience with these topics, how would you approach educating yourself on composting and single-use packaging so you could start creating content quickly and autonomously?
