BPI supports composters and food scrap haulers that accept certified compostable products. We want to see them succeed and raise awareness about their successes. The BPI Composting Microgrants Program funds projects that promote best practices for the use and successful diversion of compostable products, an increase in food waste collection with compostable products, and improve operations to better process compostable products.
These microgrants range from $500 to $5,000 and can be awarded to for-profit companies (food scrap haulers and composters), non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies actively involved in composting. The grants can be used for activities like attending events to present composting efforts, creating promotional materials (i.e. ads, truck wraps, flyers, signs), training and equipment improvements, and conducting research to enhance compostable product processing. However, funds cannot be used to purchase compostable products directly.
The grant is currently open. There will be a webinar the week of September 30th and the submission deadline is Friday, November 8, 2024 at 5pm Eastern Time.
