How to Become a BPI-Approved Lab

How to Become a BPI-Approved Lab

This approval process includes:

  • Evaluation: The complexity of the evaluation process varies based on the lab’s accreditation status. In most cases, labs with relevant accreditation only require a review of their application, accreditation documents and their quality manual. Labs without accreditation will require additional screening that includes an audit conducted by DIN CERTCO.

Once a lab is approved:

  • Fees: An annual fee is paid to DIN CERTCO to maintain approved status. This fee is approximately 270 EUR, and is waived for the first year a lab is approved.
  • Renewal: Labs undergo evaluation every five years to renew their approval. Renewal fees start at 1,350 EUR, and are dependent upon the processes required for renewal.

*The fees listed are approximate and may change over time. For the most current fees, see "Schedule of fees for the approval of testing laboratories and testing bodies.
